The Row House

Evolving the Brownstone through Mediterranean Design

Beginning with the precedent of 4 Grove Street, I studied the geometry of the row house and determined what made it a successful plan. Then, I applied these lessons to a design of my own for a five-unit enclave on a 120’ x 120’ parcel. While the project retains the efficient spatial organization of the New York prototype, I reinterpreted the typology through a Mediterranean Classical lens to establish a distinct, regionally appropriate character.
